| This is the web frontend of the observations
database. The system was initially designed for use on a single
computer running Microsoft Access at TAnzania Mammal Atlas Project.
The increasing size of the database and ambitions to further
strengthen the data integrity led to a closer collaboration with
the Conservation Information and Monitoring Unit at TAWIRI. Upon
request Ragnvald Larsen in june 2006 reworked the databse structure
totally and then migrated the Microsoft Access database to a MySQL
database.
The new TMAP database consists of a database unit. Data entry
still done through a so-called shell version of Microsoft Access
whereas the old data entry system (although slightly changed) now
leaves data in the MySQL database. The third component of this
system is the web-pages you are currently viewing.
The system is now capable of producing maps for each observer, each
species and a total survey map showing all observations in all squares.
